Type Design
In June 2021, myself and Another’s Executive Creative Director stepped aside from some of our core projects within the agency, and delved into a world of curiosity. An agency principle that is held with high value is the belief in the magic of curious minds. This has led Study to be the opportunity to get uncomfortable, learn, test and understand new mediums. Using this time to nourish the growth of the agency and be empowered to collaborate with inspiring creative talent from around the world. Learning from one and another with a mutual goal to have fun and experiment. Within this “study time”, we created 5 projects that were then presented in our 5th project as an immersive digital experience on the web.
Intro: CGI
This project was our immersion into learning more about the world of 3D. In collaboration with Crea Studio, we created vignettes using the word study to explore different materials and motion opportunities within 3D.

Study 001: Type Design
When thinking of the areas we have always been curious about, Type Design was one of the first in mind. A world that is intimidating, precise and extremely time consuming but I was ready to get uncomfortable and be a student. Thanks to a lot of googling and amazing insights from Josh Warner, we came to the conclusion to create an open source display face. . Type design is an intimidating world but with guidance we decided a display face would be an easier and fun entry point. Much like the honeysuckle flower, Honey has a striking appearance that alludes to its tubular shape before the flower blooms. Once bloomed the petals open to reveal soft curved petals and spike-like filaments. This typeface uses simple forms with experimentation in thick and thin points and unique approaches to how letterforms are drawn. This demo font isn’t perfect but neither are we as creatives and I truly like it better that way.
Shoot 001: Distortion
Photo content is medium that is native to the world of Another. Within this shoot, we went without a robust shot list or run of show... just a drive to explore on set through camera play and hand-made or digital post production treatments to expand this distortion theme.

Study 002: Mockups
The countless times a mock-up has saved the day truly make them invaluable to my design process. So we decided to shoot and create our own to share with the design community for free as “Study Materials”.
Study 004: Immersive Worlds - Part 1
In this creative, we focus on a short video concept that celebrates the subtle joy in the unknown. The underlying concept of transportation from the every day into a world of play is our foundation, using skateboarding and surrealist materials as our medium. Our treatments started in a dreamy bubblegum state that slowly evolved into a technicolor video game-like world. In the essence of Study, the process was filled with a lot of unknowns — leaning on key partners to guide us. We never got it “right” or followed a traditional path to working within this medium, but we certainly got lucky finding partners who were as eager and curious to play.

Study 004: Immersive Worlds - Part 2
For the second part, we further explore immersive worlds through still imagery blended into 3D environments, then plussed up with subtle animations.
Study 005: Web Development
A study of immersive development. In this latest Study project, we wanted to explore web design and development within a limitless space. Using an expansive scroll, our new site for Study shares all our projects to date, using expressive design integrations to spotlight leading elements, partners and even a series of notes you can share to spark ideas.
